Moon Safari – Air

This is an album I haven’t really played for 10 years. Is it music or musak? a postmodern joke? I don’t really know. If it is a joke, especially La Femme d’Argent, it is an interesting one. As many people have called this album a soundtrack to the world’s worst dinner party. I thought I would play it at a small gathering (not the world’s most boring, unfortunately) and see the reaction. Not much reaction really, one person asked who was playing, after I told them they then asked for more wine. Most people just talked over the top of it which did annoy me a little. To get my own back I constantly repeated the final track, Le Voyage De Pénélope. I don’t think anyone noticed.

In keeping with the spirit of the album below is a French translation via google –

  1. I’ve listened to it again lately – as I transferred a lot of music to a new computer. I think it does slide into ‘muzak’ quite frequently and it often lacks soul. You can tell that one of those guys trained as an architect….
