Ramones – Ramones

The music in my head, sometimes, far exceeds the reality of what was actually recorded. I remember hearing Sigue Sigue Sputnick’s Love Missile F1-11 for the first time and turning to my friend and saying, Is that it! Obviously the song in my head was much better, maybe I should have sold it to Tony James. However, the same can’t be said of the Ramones, I never even came close to imagining what they were like before I heard them. I remembered seeing the cover to Road to Ruin before hearing them. If anything, the song in my head was that of a more technically proficient Ramones tribute act (never a good thing).
My midlife crisis shows no signs of abating, last month, for my birthday I received not 1, not 2, not 3 but 7 band/music related t-shirts (I know, I know) including a new Ramones t-shirt. As there was nobody in the house tonight, I put this album on and started dancing around the living room, for a middle-aged, overweight pogofest. I got up to Judy is a Punk (3rd track), before I had to lie down. Who said Punks not dead?
