After many years of loving The Waterboys I finally saw them live this year, and they were on fire. Doesn’t matter how many times I listen to this album I always find somthing new in it. I still think it is a daring move by Mike Scott, he turned his back on the stadium and picked up a bazouki. Most of the album was listened to today whilst driving. Sitting at traffic lights listening to Sweet Thing. Better still When Ye go Away seems to be made for a leisurely 40mph around town (I sound like Clarkson). However I saved Dunford’s Fancy for the man cave with a bottle of Badgers, it will always sounds better with Badgers (that should be used by the marketing dept.).
I can think of only two other folk rock albums that gives this a run for its money (Leige and Lief and Rum, Sodomy and the Lash)
Mike Scott is a full blown genius, his ability to pull off the wearing of hats and sunglasses indoors is second to none.
